As more students turn to the computer to type up their written work, very few students actually know how to type the
needed French accents directly into their work. Most resort to either adding them in later by hand, or just leaving them out
all together.
In the tables below, you are provided with the keystrokes that will enable you to type the French accents in Microsoft
Word, on an IBM or on a Macintosh.

When adding an accent in Microsoft Word, hold down on the CONTROL key and type the correct keystroke for the letter.
Then release the CONTROL key and type the letter needed.

When you want to type letters with accent marks, hold down the ALT key and type the correct number using the numbers
on the calculator pad. Then let go of the ALT key. DO NOT type the actual letter.
